The PSB SubSeries 6i has a design much like the 5i but with larger drive units and greater power for even more awesome output. In the words of our engineering staff it “Cranks pretty good.” Additional features of the SubSeries 6i are its high and low level passive and active filtering circuits that allow greater flexibility in installation. The SubSonic 6i is a new, high-performance subwoofer that brings spectacular bass performance on both movies and music within the range of budget-minded listeners. It offers: • Almost twice the power of the original SubSonic 6, from a high-efficiency Class H design amplifier that delivers 225 watts continuous, 300 watts dynamic power, and 600 watts dynamic peak power. • Fast, controlled, natural sounding bass, from a heavier 12-inch metalized polypropylene-cone woofer with a very substantial (53-ounce) magnet. • Extended low-frequency coverage, made possible in part by an oversize rubber surround that permits very long cone excursions—for response within 3dB down to 29Hz and useful output down to 26Hz. • Greater sustained power, from a 2-inch voice coil that helps handle high continuous output without thermal compression. • Further improvements in PSB’s sophisticated anti-overload circuitry, allows the SubSonic 6i to sail smoothly and musically through passages—both with heavy short-term peak demands and sustained high power requirements—that cause audible problems with many subwoofers. • Low port noise even from extreme low frequencies at very high volume, thanks to new, aerodynamic front-mounted ports. • Front-mounted controls that make it simple and convenient to adjust sub volume and crossover frequency to optimize performance and system setup. • A streamlined new, molded curved-edge look, with “floating” grille, that fits gracefully into today’s listening/viewing rooms and matches in design elegance for seamless mixing and matching.
